How foreign workers change employers — Siam Madee infographic

Foreign workers who need to change employers in Thailand must follow the correct procedure under the Department of Employment regulations to legally work for their new employer without legal risk.

1 Old Employer Submits Resignation Notice

The old employer must process a resignation/cancellation notice in the e-WorkPermit system before any further steps can be taken.

2 Required Documents for Changing Employers

Prepare all documents in full before submitting the request via e-WorkPermit:

  • 📘 Passport (if available)
  • 🛂 Visa (if available)
  • 📋 Work Permit
  • 🪪 Identity Storage Card (ใบเก็บอัตลักษณ์)
  • 🧾 Receipt
  • 📧 Email address
  • 📷 Photograph
  • 📄 Dismissal Letter from previous employer

3 Submit Employer Change Request via e-WorkPermit

Submit the employer change request through the e-WorkPermit system and wait for an officer to review and approve the application.

4 Await Approval — Then Start with Your New Employer

Once the system grants approval, the worker can begin working with the new employer immediately and fully legally.

💡 Tip: Make sure all documents are complete before submitting the employer change request via e-WorkPermit to avoid delays. Our team at Siam Madee is ready to assist at every step.
